Eric McCormack on What Society Expects From Sitcoms

Eric McCormack’s long run on the hit comedy series Will & Grace has given the Canadian actor and singer a fair amount of perspective on the genre. McCormack visited the Vulture Emmy Studio in L.A. where he challenged what he sees as unrealistic expectations that society often places on comedy.

“We expect certain things from our television characters,” McCormack said. “If you have a family sitcom that’s what it is, it’s a family and nobody’s supposed to get divorced.”
