Apprenticing to Jesus: Luke 13:18-35

The stories of Jesus are filled not only with the things that Jesus did, but also by the group that surrounded him, His disciples. The Greek word for disciples means learner, student, but more than that disciples in Jesus’s day were more like apprentices. They followed a master to spend time with him, to learn from him, to become like him, and to work alongside him in his mission. When we come to Jesus, we are invited not just to attend church, but we are invited to follow Jesus, to apprentice ourselves to Jesus, to spend time with him, to learn from him, to become like him, and to join him on His mission. Come along with us as we journey through the book of Luke and learn what it means to apprentice to Jesus.
