To be honest these turntables last an eternity!! Good sturdy quality plastic and a good diamond needle that is spring loaded like those 1960's Zenith record changers used in console stereos which has 2G cartridges to prevent scratching the records, despite the mono amplifier having low output about 2 watts. These 1978 Fisher-Price record players kick aside the cheap crosley's, i know what i'm talking about because i've owned one of these but with the orange platter + tonearm that my mother offered me for christmas back in 1985!

I like the period appropriate music at the beginning.

Cool. Got it for Christmas 1978. Never skipped & I could always rely on it. Brings back great memories.

This player is really cool. I love the blue tonearm and turntable on white base, it really goes together well and looks cute. Sounds very good as well, especially on that Technotronic record at the end of the video. Would have been nice to hear a bit more of it though.

I used to jam to my Muppets and Alvin and the Chipmunks albums on this record player. many awesome memories seeing this again ❤

My niece got one of these for Christmas when she was about 6. I always liked the fact that, unlike other kiddie phonographs of its time, the on/off switch was integrated with the speed control, so the idler wheel would disengage with the platter when you turned it off.

I grew up using this type. I am about to upgrade to a Pro Ject Vertical turntable.

Good bass, tight mid range too. Some floorstanders would really showcase this turntable.

these were made from 1978-1983 common kids record player the replacement needles are available on Ebay as mainly for Newcomb and Calfone classroom record players but also fits fisher price. on the inside uses a mashista motor that combines the transformer a C frame shaded pole ac motor. a volume control amplifier and a light duty 4 inch speaker. as kids tend to put objects in there and tear the cone. as the replacement has to be equivalant to this. The time this was made Fisher Price was part of the quaker oats company. the toys were made good before all went to china.

For a toy record player it’s got a good sound and looks quite sturdy also to be honest looks better build quality than the crossley turntables ha ha 😂

Did you know they also had a music box version of that record player? It had special discs that could play only on that player because the tone pickup was the music box device and the discs had little bumps that the music arm would follow in order to play the song that those bumps would represent.
