Construction Worker Breaks Social Barriers In China

This Chinese woman...rocks.

Zhang Fangfang is a 27-year-old construction worker. She lifts roughly 20 tons of cement sacks every day, earning $0.15 a sack. Zhang became the sole provider for her family, including two daughters, after her husband, also a construction worker, suffered damage to his eyes.

Zhang uploaded videos of herself in action, which went viral on Chinese social networks. Many offered to help her financially, but Zhang refused any donations, saying she didn't want to rely on charity. Instead, she'd rather keep lifting cement.

When I was young I saw many Chinese contruction ladies working and carrying heavy cement blocks. One old lady showed me her scarred palms. I cannot erase this memory even more than 40 years later.
