I was 13 years young when it premiere on MTV & it changed my life forever. I enjoy watching TRL every afternoon & it is part of my childhood to adulthood on MTV. Remember growing up with trl and in uk they tired trl uk but never worked. Trl still on in some European countries. Trl was the true interactive show ans was a must for ant music fan

"Total Request Live" was how I knew what was popular or who was going to be popular in Music from 1998 to 2005, this was before Social Media, iTunes/Apple Music were a thing. Certain people like to think that MP3 Players and Social Media ended "Total Request Live" and that is 85% true. I think MTV was beginning to shift away from music when the iPod could play Videos around the time Carson Daly left MTV.
