Dr. Amrouche Mohamed

Amrouche Mohamed is a passionate geoscientist with a blended experience between academia and industry.

He completed a PhD in Geophysics at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) in 2016, where he developed a novel implementation of the full waveform inversion for shallow soils velocity profiling, to be applied for Earthquake Engineering purposes. He also worked as Research Assistant with the same institution among the Global CUEE (Center of Urban Earthquake Engineering) program, targeting the reduction of globally increasing seismic mega risks.

He is currently working as a Geoscientist with the oil services company Schlumberger in Japan, providing software-based solutions to challenges faced by the upstream oil and gas companies in Japan. Parallel to his primary duty, he is also heavily involved in different projects with universities and other research institutions, trying to find new domains of application of the existing exploration geophysical methods.

With an international experience revolving between academia and industry, his fields of expertise and research interests involve Hydrocarbon reservoir exploration and modelling, Geophysical applications for geotechnical challenges and renewable energies, Earthquake engineering and seismology and recently a more particular interest in planetary geophysics and lunar exploration.
