Facing Our Fears: Sailing Across the Gulf Stream

The day has finally come, we’re crossing the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas! After months of unexpected breakdowns, repairs, and emotional recovery, we’re setting sail from Florida to the Abaco Islands aboard our Prout Snowgoose 37. While we chose a calm day to motor sail across, nature had other plans. With unexpected wind gusts up to 32 knots and heavy emotions from our last offshore scare, this crossing pushed us once again. But we made it, reunited with friends, exploring Hope Town, and even caught a lobster before the season ended. This is the start of a whole new chapter in our sailing journey!

This crossing meant *everything* to us. After tearing our mainsail and having an engine failure offshore, it took a lot of courage to get back out there. But here we are—sailing into the Bahamas with more confidence, more experience, and a whole lot of gratitude.
