Magnus is the only person who can disrespect almost any chess player

Induced frustration and irritation really tells upon the opponent 😊.

There is a part of it, but I've seen a bunch of smug magnus interactions. Like what happened to respect for the players and the game. Show up on time, take it seriously, have fun while doing so, or don't play. Not every action of "the great magnus carlson, " is an act of psychological warfare, sometimes its just being rude.

If i was a grandmaster i would want Carlson to disrespect me by showing up late. Just to give me a chance. But everytime i see that, i want to see Carlson lose.

Meanwhile, Magnus just wanted to adjust his pieces best and clean. World - "It's a psychology trickery"

Psychology seems to be a big part of chess, even on the highest level - the examples over the years are numerous.

But in Magnus's case, I don't think it even was disrespectful or an attempt to tilt the opponent. Magnus simply can afford losing several dozen seconds to adjust the pieces if he feels like that - and still win.

And for Vincent... well, this little video clip is already well known, but imagine how much more prominent it would have been if Vincent won! And after all, a win would definitely be the most effective way to make Magnus take him more seriously...

To be fair. Some Chess players have rituals/habits they do before they start their game to get in the zone.

Here we have Magnus who usually fixes all of his pieces. Another example is Prag who prays briefly right before making his first move.

Magnus feels entitled to disrespect other players.

No that is not disrespect, magnus just one to make himself comfortable with the pieces. So he did it 😊

I think subtle disrespect like this is rude. Like, if i was playing a higher rated player and they smugly come out and play the bongcloud against me, I would be pretty pissed. That's kind of what this is like. Like, if you're better, just play and prove it on the board... why try to embarrass the underdog as well? That's what a bad guy would do in a Disney sports movie, ya know?

Or maybe he's just very picky about grabbing his pieces once the game is on, what do I know? I would most likely assume an oddball or someone with an OCD/controll issue if someone did that. Needless to say, I wouldn't find it remotely imposing from a "psychological warfare" point of view.

If being rude and disrespectful helps you winning a chess game, you are not exactly my personal hero.

I remember using psychological tactics in chess 27 years ago, in High school. I did like a little puppet show with my captured pieces during the match. It’s hard to concentrate for both players so In thought it was fair game.

I do not think psychology is a big part of what MC is doing. He honestly does not take his opponent seriously. It is hard for people like MC not to get a swollen head. This is about showing off.

Whatever "lucky" routine or sorcerers "mentalist trick" you use before a game, it's all psychology 😂

I don't think that was disrespect. Basketbsll players have a routine before they shoot free throws so they can get Into the zone. I think Magnus just does that to get focused.

I can't respect Magnus because of how rude he is
