Found this after getting nioh 2 today (ty ps+) and wow. You not only went in depth while keeping it simplistic, you made it incredibly difficult for me to decide what to use 🤣 sword, tonfa, fists, switchglaive and dual swords all seem right up my alley

I love how your information is really catering to casuals like me. Getting right on with the fun part of each weapon rather than only their strenghts/weaknesses, in a enjoyable manner.
Huge thanks!

“The kusarigawa is a very technical weapon.”
Me: stay away. Press triangle. Run away, press triangle. 😂

Splitstaff is definitely harder to grasp, especially knowing what attacks are worth extending and which aren't. I was suprised to see the ammount of damage and ki damage I could deal once I started practicing with it. Its one of those weapons that makes me feel bad for the enemy. Even the flash attack to splitstaff is like giving your foe the middle finger.

These videos are something that i've been looking for, someone who knows what they're doing explaining "what, how and why's" of the game. Good content. keep it up!

Weapons in Nioh comes in three category - close combat, medium range combat and long-range combat. Swords are medium, tonfa is close and odaichi and spears are long range. The way I see them is how far the reach they have to the enemy - one arm's distance (which is what a sword is) is usually means medium distance. Anything that puts you directly in the face of your opponent like a tonfa is a close range.

This is why you should always have a powerful odaichi with you. The lenght is about twice that of a sword which means you can hit once or twice and dodge out of the way. At least, that's my formula.

I keep coming back to this every time I pick up Nioh 2 again, currently I was trying out for a single weapon only playthrough and this video helps me get a bigger perspective on what sort of weapon I could use, I ended up just using the Kusarigama due to an unhealthy obession with crushing Yokai Horns.

After play elden ring I jumped back to nioh cause I never finished them, but after finally completing a souls game, I feel up to the challenge! Seeing you play is always mesmerizing cause your level of skill is insane

I know I'm late but I think it's worth pointing out that fist weapons come in 2 varietys, clawed fists do 25% more damage than those without, in return without claws does 25% more ki damage.

Thank you for this video, definitely helps a lot. I loved the odachi in Nioh 1 with the different stance attacks and love the Switchglaive in Nioh 2 I had no idea about the stances for this weapon and now I'm eager to try the spear.

Switchglaive is my favorite weapon. I was so hyped for Nioh 2 when I saw magic finally had a weapon and it was cool.

Fists, Splitstaff and Odachi battle for my second favorite spot.

I know I'm commenting on a year old video but thank you for keeping it held down on the Nioh content

@ 1:32 Roger that, this checks out. The good ol' Sword is definitely a superior weapon. It's the AK-47 of Nioh. :D
