Michael Johnson - early See You Soon demo
Songwriter: Paul Johnson
Lyrics:
Well it seems I been about everywhere
I been out of my mind maybe a year or more
I don't believe the condition of my travelin' things
To look at ‘em makes me sore
And it certainly is awfully lonesome
Without you hanging ‘round my door

You know I'm tired of all the hustle
And the dues I have to pay to make it by
Well there's a man inside there bothering me
And I have to face him daily in the eye
And I believe I might die tomorrow, girl
If I don't know you're standin' by

You know it’s hard to keep on tryin'
When the words don't come to point you out the way
So I’ll smoke awhile and drink some more
And beg my mind to ponder what to say
And I believe I might die tomorrow girl
If I don't see you soon someday
And I believe I might die tomorrow girl
If I don't see you soon someday

This is cool! There's this bouncy bit in the bass line that isn't on the recorded version. It adds a little extra liveliness to this solo version, vs. the recorded version with other instruments. I'll have to update my admittedly crude approximation to what MJ does on this tune. Thanks for sharing this! —Tom
