Did you know that in HEAT... Val Kilmer's mag change is so accurate that Marines and Army Rangers have used the sequence to show proper reload technique -- and how to retreat when engaged with a numerically superior enemy.

Val Kilmer: Marine-level reloads, Naval Aviator and Admiral, and literal Moses

Val Kilmer was so underratted as a actor and the stuff he did in films.
edit: FYI never won any big awards for his acting.

As a firearm myself, it always makes me happy to see movies with realistic and accurate firearm handling

The fact that there was no music for the shootout was what made it that much better. This movie is a gem. ❤

Yes. Mick Gould of 22 SAS did the weapons and tactics training on HEAT . Hence why the skills and drills are spot on.

For anyone saying Val Kilmer is underrated or overlooked: you must be incredibly young to not remember when this man was sought after in Hollywood. He was incredibly well-respected and was not ever “overlooked” in any sense of the word. The problem is that he is now incredibly ill and therefore hasn’t worked in years, which means he’s done nothing new to keep the conversations going about his exceptional talent. Batman, The Doors, Tombstone, Heat, Top Gun, Real Genius, Willow!! He’s the best and we’re all in agreement.

The video implies that it's only his reload, but It's not, it's the entire sequence of events

Not only the reload, but the buddy rushing as well.

Can confirm. Was shown this clip in multiple courses on urban warfare. Movement, coordination, suppression, good stuff. One of the more practical scenes of a movie.

I watched that scene and the way the sirens wailing, people screaming, gunshots echoing, everything reverberating in the background is just raw af.

We watched this scene when I got my CCW in college. It was to demonstrate effective shoot, move communicate, and reload.

This entite scene is so intense. I love the how the background music is suddenly muted. Makes it feel like you are actually there.

I remember when I was in infantry school and the instructors sat us in front of a movie screen and showed us the whole movie just to instruct us on how to do the one of the most basic things imaginable. Take a magazine out, put a new one in, and press a button.
