Maybe balancing an axe on your chin isn't the best idea, But one hell of a bar trick!

As much as i appreciate the old method, what a relief it is that we DONT have to process lumber this way anymore.

Hewn beams look cool, and it's good to have the old ways remembered, but I appreciate that a sawmill allows us to use more of the tree as lumber which is pretty awesome in its own right.

I gotta try that balancing trick! I haven't had a serious axe injury for years!

This is seriously one of the coolest channels on the platform, I love that there’s a whole group of people keeping old Western knowledge alive in a time when often any culture we have left is either highly sanitized and marketed or written off as non existent. Grateful for you all

Fun fact: Ireland In the Mesolithic, a squirrel could travel from Cork to Derry without touching the ground. Imagine Ireland looking like the Appalachian Mountains.

I love hand hewn beams. I've spent 20 years remodeling in New England and I've seen some amazing homes some as old as 250 years in Cornwall CT and Roxbury CT I was a hardwood floor sander for 35 years

You are a good lad and I enjoy your videos. Keep learning and someday you’ll be like me a 83 year old that still loves learning.

You make the best sense of humor and work. I crave a good ole fashioned way of just working, enjoying your job and adding in the skills you've learned BY HAND! Ahhh this is truly meditation

You should check out the Viking ship museum in Denmark. They still build era appropriate ships with traditional tools!

I still have my grandfathers axes and adze. I'm 57 and they were old when my father inherited them. The steel is rust free and still holds a razor sharp edge❤
