But, new or used, this is a razor you really need to have in your rotation!

Hey Mark. I got this razor for Father's Day. I love it and it has become my go to razor. The shave is amazingly smooth. I actually learned a lot about its construction.We dismantled one to see how it was made. Like the Future, the Progress is very simple mechanically. That is the secret of Merkur adjustable razors. I have to admit, The Progress has given me a lot of food for thought. Smooth shave, well-built. As a manufacturer of DE razors, I really applaud Mekur. The Progress gives me something to aspire to.

It's my first real razor, aside from the dollar store experiment. I'm LOVING it. Being able to play with the aggressiveness is key. I feel like I shortcutted the guesswork. I'm glad I did, because it turns out I hate mild razors. The Progress on 1 is SUPER mild. I find it to be mild even up to 3. If I didn't buy the Progress I would have gone with something too mild. VERY happy. This razor, BTW, goes to 10, not 5. Handle can go around twice easily and stay well locked.

Hello Mark! Once again I was searching for reviews of the Merkur Progress and found one of your videos.
Besides a thorough review of this Merkur model which I found very useful, you described the several passes of your shave with an adjustable razor upgrading the aggression scale instead of downgrading it like I've watched many wet shavers do. Do you still use that technique and find it more efficient in getting a closer shave with no irritation?

I love mine but I have the long handle (which I prefer). Been using it for about 15 years and it costs about $0.10/week to shave. An Astra blade lasts me a week and I shave my entire head and face.

Hi Mark is it necessary to pull the compression ring part and clean it thoroughly after each use?

Interesting that you go from lower setting up to higher ones. Usually most people do something like 5-3-1 or 3-2-1. Never heard anyone go in the other direction. But as they say ymmv ;) If it works for you it works
