I remember my first Gibson. I was 15 years old and the music store I was taking lessons at had just received in a brand new Cherry Sunburst 1977 Les Paul Deluxe. I saved up the $585 and she was MINE.

$599 is a lot of commitment for a 14-yo, especially when you already had a guitar. Kudos. When I was about that age, I managed only to scrap together $300 in lawn-mowing money to buy a classical Suzuki, my first “real” guitar, bought bc the nylon strings were easier on the fingers. I still have it — pretty banged up, several repairs, including this brilliant thing my dad did to fix where the neck was starting to crack around the 12 fret. I can’t even quite describe what he did, but it is more solid than when it was new.

Oh yah! I just dropped on a 1978 Gibson RD custom today. The wife said it was ok and I’m not dead yet. Lmao.
