I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT! HEAR ME OUT. Mark is having a hard time coming to terms with the end of Unus Annus so Annus as an entity takes advantage of this. He takes Mark to a place where time doesn’t flow, representative of the hourglass on its side. When Mark is in this place, Annus takes control of his body as you can see at the end. While Mark is In “wonderland” Annus is terrorizing Ethan. This is further confirmed by the bet my life video. When Ethan realizes this he tries to fight Annus in Mark’s body but is on the losing side of this battle. Mark slowly realizing what is happening sees what Annus is doing and the hourglass begins to crack. Wow it took my whole brain to figure this out. Please let’s discuss this more.

This part hit me so hard, the concept and the staging are beautiful, , i loved the imagery of the tipped over hourglass (the crack in it was brilliant) and the frozen frames of mark's memories while annus guides him through this serene, bittersweet nostalgia outside of then the cut back to the real world with annus looming over ethan who's obviously terrified and feeling so so tiny, but with the cutting contrast of the soft sad music still in the background staging, brilliant writing, this gave me so many emotions (yes i almost cried we're not gonna mention it) and i just, , this is so gorgeous, i love it so much
