Bowser or King Koopa WHO ARE YOU?! - The Curious Vaporeon

Who is this King Koopa imposter who has been seen replacing Bowser in the TV show Super Mario Bros 3? Today we find out!

Just a note: Peach wasn’t referred to as such in the west until Super Mario 64. She was called Princess Toadstool.

And I remember in the AOSMB3 episode Crimes R Us, or something like that, King Koopa calls himself Bowser.

Edit: Of course, it’s entirely possible that there’s some mega obscure game I’m missing that called Peach as such first.

Another reason was that when designing the show, the game was still In Development and therefore they didn’t have much to go off, to preserve secrecy.

It’s the same reason why some of the koopalings have drastically different personalities and names (Morton being small and called “bigmouth”)

Actually Bowser did reveal his name in Super Mario Bros 3 cartoon series saying "I'm Bowser Koopa". And also in the SMB Super Show in 1989, they made Bowser green because to look similar to Wart the main antagonist in SMB 2. Notice the crown he wears and he's all green just like Wart, but Koopa has only the spiked shell in which Wart doesn't have a shell nor horns. In the SMB comicbooks Wart does appear and he looks much similar to king Koopa. He looks like Koopa with no horns, wearing a king's rope. Also Wart looked like an alligator than a toad.

For older gamers who are probably most of us are in our 30s. It's common knowledge that King Koopa is Bowser. The original Super Mario Bros game on the NES labels him Bowser King of the Koopas. Which is what King Koopa is his named shorten.
and yes if you play the first SMB game, King Koopa looks nearly green except for his mouth.
DiC animators probably thought aesthetically the design of Koopa based of SMB1 ( since Super Mario Super Show came out before SMB3 existed.) that keeping his face all one color would look better and I think it works.
King Koopa is not always portrayed bad in the cartoon at all, if you watch the Adventures of SMB3 cartoon, you'll see he's a Dad trying to look out for his bad kids.

90% of those who played Mario RPG used King Koopa's voice from the cartoon, in their heads for the dialog of Bowser.

I come from 80s/90s. In NES Vídeo Games and DIC cartoons, he was named King Koopa.

I’d say the Dic version is based directly on the first game, whereas the sequel games developed in a completely different direction. Honestly untill relatively recently, I just thought his name was King Koopa. I also thought Sonic’s antagonist was Robotnik. kind of like the difference between the 2017 Disney Beauty and the beast and the 2017 French Beauty and the Beast. the French verson is based firectly on the Cockteau version whereas the Disney version is based on the other Disney version which is only loosely based on the Cockteau version. and actually the french one took way more liberties, to the point that the monster in the cravat is the LEAST wierd thing in the castle.

So Koopa mean in Japan means a Korean dish because in my country of Poland it's awkward. In Polish "kupa" (pronounced "koopa") means faeces.
