Updating drivers may introduce new issues. You don't NEED to update them, but some games are optimized with certain drivers versions.

I thought you were gonna roast him for plugging it into his motherboard instead of his gpu

There is some information that is missing here.
Generally updating GPU drivers can have performance improvements on newer released or new games in general, but for older titles that aren't receiving updates, they usually will not have much, or any effect.

The phenomenon of getting unplayable, like 14 fps suddenly after monitor changes (assuming you were getting much better fps prior) cannot be remedied with just an update in general, but it is a good idea to update it regardless.
Alternatively, there's a possibility someone upgraded from a 1080p to a 4k monitor, that's a very realistic scenario where one can see fps numbers drop drastically depending on the game and the gpu

the stability of those drivers just tells us how much trust we should have in the company

updating graphic card are rarely for performance. Its mostly for newer games to be optimized. So you can skip until a new game comes out. I usually never update graphics until I get a new game and my old games run just fine.

So true, thankfully I always update mine, but I always keep the rollback option in case the new drivers have some bug

I never update my drivers, except its VEEERY necessary. Cuz as my father says: "if it works, its fine"

Lmao.. have a 1070 ti gpu that hasn’t updated since 2018 and still played POE 2 like a champ. Should sell this legend 😂

*ALWAYS* do your research on the update first. I've had to do many safe mode driver uninstalls because a 'recent stable' update completely bricked my gpu.

Drivers in general are something that if they aren't broke don't fix them. You may get a bit of performance on some new title but if all of your games are running fine you risk introducing new issues that you could've otherwise avoided.

I dont own PC but im very happy to see a lot of other people came to the same conclusion of plugging into the motherboard

I have a friend who used a 1060 for the longest time and told me to my face, “nvidia is a virus.” And never once installed drivers. He asked me to fix his pc and I installed drivers. He then sold the computer to get a 3060 pc and still claims nvidia is a virus and doesn’t install them.

Yes, always update your drivers. However, do not update them immediately. Wait a week or so before updating them so you can see if they are running properly from other people. If there's no news about the driver's being bad, then update. If there are problems with the drivers, then hold off on updating

Always wait a few weeks before updating drivers. So the people who do this for a living can make sure you aren't going to brick your PC without being able to afford to repair or replace it.
