I liked it better when vehicles didn't have all the computerized technology.... back when you could do your own car repairs. Now you've got to hire rocket scientists to figure shit out. Not to mention that a single chip failure can set you back 10k. There's a rich price to pay for luxury and convenience.

My 2003 locks itself randomly. I never exit the vehicle without my keys.

This is a factory reminder to clean your friggin truck!

It a factory anti theft measure to prevent someone from breaking a window and being able to open the door, or unlock the entire vehicle. Once the truck is locked it wants to be unlocked by the fob, or key, from outside.

My honda insight locked me inside. It was the after market theft system the dealer installed and made me paid for... seems it was standard procedure, to make more money....think if I was in a bad accident. I was furious with them, took them several days to fix. I had to crawl out the back hatch.

Yes! This has happened to me three times. Chevy silverado 1500. My windows were not down. I got locked out. I tested TRYING to lock myself out and couldn't do it, yet I randomly get locked out. Alarm goes off and poof I'm locked out.

Yes, the same thing happened in my Honda CRV. It’s weird because it also locks itself when I don’t want it to. I take my purse of my keys into the house. I go back to the car to get the groceries and then I hear it lock. There’s no one in the house. But yeah, if the key is not in the ignition, it seems like the the door will not unlock

I do roadside for a local tow company. Literally went to a call last week and thought i was tripping. Handle didn't work on either side. Unlock button didn't work. It actually had the fat slide up lock at the top of the door where it opens. Was able to unlock that way. Without that i would not have gotten in

Had a Toyota Sequoia, '04. If the doors where last locked with the fob, you could not unlock it, except for using the fob. So you could imprison a person by locking it with the fob and walking away. The person inside could not unlock it. A child old enough to unlock it would still be trapped. Not sure what the designers of that system were thinking....

My sister in law had a 2015 GMC Acadia that did the same thing. She parked in front of our mother in laws garage and mil went into the garage by a side door. We all had gotten out of the vehicle and closed the doors. Mil hit the button to open the garage door and as it went up we heard a click and the doors locked. She called OnStar to have them unlock it but they couldn't - they said it was out of range. Maybe they didn't want to admit it just wasn't working.
She had to call her husband to bring the spare set of keys. By the way, it was just a few months old.

Crawl through the window and start the truck! I had to call the police to help me get in my truck! You also may check for recalls. We just had one on ours

Had this happen with my dodge more than once. Turns out my key fobs had corrosion in them. New key, no problem. But for you looks like it may be the security module.

It's a security feature so someone can't steal your car. But the window was down. I guess they didn't think it through. You better stop leaving your keys in the truck. 😂

Yes! Our 98, 2001 and 2005 pick ups all do the same! Always roll a window
down!
