Here's another terrifying and amazing story by @MrBallen.

Would you go in this kind of adventure with your friends?

How would you react in this situation?

Woody nailed it. Unless a person has actually been in this situation we have no idea what we would do. All we can do is train for scenarios that are similar and then continue to drill on those scenarios…

I’m one of those fans that show up for the “Death” videos. It’s not so much for the morbidity, but the seriousness and the meeting of professional and casual informed discussion you to have. You two are great speakers in your own way.

I’m from Utah and remember this. There was scratch marks on Jen’s body. They were desperately trying to get out but her body was blocking the exit

Wait, did I just catch a brand new dive talk episode at 6am on a Monday? Maybe my day won’t be so bad.

Mr Ballen is the reason why I became interested in cave diving and how I found Dive Talk

This is eerily similar to the OffTheRanch video you guys reacted to 3 days ago, dude was in cold water, swimming through a flooded section, couldn't find the exit, started to panic, and then he nearly drowned. Just goes to show you how easy it is to drown in a cave like this and how close that dude was to actually dying.

I've seen people panic JUST from cold water when they've never been swimming in it before. I can't imagine how terryfying it would be to be in the cold, dark water with no experience.

Mannn the guys who decided not to do it, even up to the last moment, were very lucky

I heard another video talk about this. They said there was bad air in the cave that probably led to their death. Breathing in bad air and attempting to swim back probably caused it. I heard in the other video Jen admitted this cave nearly drowned her the first time she went through. Idk why youd be like 'oh this cave nearly drowned me, let me bring my friends!' Not sure how true that is but i have seen another video about this

If those guys didnt say behind nobody might have know how they died. I wonder how often that happens where someone just goes missing and its some situation like this

Man, that flash of greta with your voice saying "how dare you" had me cackling. I love your channel. Thank you, as always.

It never fails to amaze me how the sense of invincibility, the lack of life experience and knowledge, coupled with peer pressure kills so many young people. I'm amazed I survived those years myself.

I'm sure in addition to drowning, there was probably quite a bit of kicking happening in people's faces while panic was setting in. A TRULY horrible "hindsight is 20/20" set of circumstances. They were just curious kids, not trained spelunkers or cave divers who get trained on how to avoid panicking. Such a sad story.

@5:30 "Steven unfortunately had to work the next day." No, Steven fortunately had to work the next day.

Based on the description to me it sounds like the air pocket didn't have any oxygen left so they all turned around and tried to make it back. (Impossible)

I show up for the death videos admittedly. This is really morbid, but my grandfather (father's father) died in a diving accident when my father was only like, five or six. I enjoy listening to you guys talk about diving accidents because the whole thing has kind of been a mystery since the '70s, since body recovery wasn't possible then and my grandmother passed in the 90s. So it's my weird little hope that one day I can actually piece together more of what happened for my dad's sake. Neither of us know a lot about it. Hearing an expert perspective kind of contextualizes what sorts of things can go wrong on a dive.

I genuinely love this channel, I know practically nothing about diving. Except what you guys have talked about and it’s just such a chill dynamic between gus and woody, keep it up guys!

Something else that might affect the fourth swimmer’s decision could be if they identified something in that pocket being a problem. If the group was in the pocket and said something like “it’s dangerous in here because there’s not enough oxygen in here”, that fourth swimmer may have automatically and immediately written-off going back into that pocket as an option.

I watch these videos to help me with my claustrophobia and it’s been working. But, this scenario is absolute nightmare fodder. Such a sad situation.
