When i got this i would just drink a fortify alteration potion that would extend the length of the spell by 18372783% so i would pair with Miraak's robes and atronoch stone and perks for magic absorption.

It's a good spell for preparation before entering an area you know or suspect to be dangerous. Taking roughly 3 seconds to cast makes it pretty hard to use in combat, but combining mass paralysis and this, makes it useful spell for more situations. Still, ebony flesh is a good one to use if ambushed.

@kallekala2 Ebonyflesh can be obtained as a normal purchasable spell tome from Toldfir in the College of Winterhold after you reach level 75 in alteration. Dragonhide is given to you as a quest reward from Toldir after you've complete his mastery quest. The master quest can be obtained after reaching level 90 in alteration and asking him if there's anymore more to be learned. Telekinesis is a fast way to level alteration.

It is a good idea to use this spell as a necromage vampire while dual casting. This makes the spell last nearly two minutes.

>Ignores 80% of damage. Also if you have the mage armor perk it is tripled

@MagicRetard1 It's not a 15 second cast time normally, however, to show the full effect of master level spells, I let them sit at their maximum charge level for a while. I then go into third-person to show the "spell animation" around the character. All in all, it's actually only a three second cast time.

@SPA7X Mage armour doesn't effect dragonhide. It depends; ebony flesh lasts twice as long and is also faster to cast. But in terms of damage prevented, dragonhide is much better. Ebony flesh with 3 perks in mage armour gives 300 armour total. In order to reach the 80% physical damage mitigation cap (which is given by dragonhide), around 670 armour is required, so ebony flesh falls well short. If diminishing returns is in effect, ebony flesh might get closer to 80% than it first appears.

this, and guardian circle can be dual casted. they only increase the duration though, not the effect.

You get Vampirism (undead) so that Necromage triggers when you use magic on yourself. This goes for all buffs! But you have to take care of your vampirism level, because too high means fire will hurt allot. You can't turn into A vampire if you're A werewolf tho, which sucks :P.

Yes, normally it does. But as I said there are two different filters so you can basically get 96% damage reduction.

A 100 damage attack is reduced to 20 with Dragon hide.

80% of the incoming 20 damage is reduced due to armor. So getting more than 567 (I think this is the cap) armor rating does nothing, but having 567 + Dragonhide does mean less damage taken.

This spell reduces 80% of physical damage taken. So if you have 80% damage reduction from armor, you will take only 4% damage (armor + dragonhide can potentially equal 96% damage reduction).

So it's not like this spell replaces armor. It's like if you had two different filters.

Fuck that, It only lasts for 45 seconds. IDK about you, but I like armor that will last until I take it off.

There are ways to make this stay for 2.5 minutes, now all of the sudden this seems broken... definitely going to use this with A breton, going ham on HP and searching/crafting Alteration gear to make it not consume that much. Damn shame you need lvl 70 or so restoration to get Necromage. Without Necromage its 99 seconds, which is do-able for sure. Man 80% of ALL damage reduced and A load of HP here I come :D

I'm guessing mage armor doesn't work with dragonhide? And if so, I'm curious as to which spell, Maxed ebonyflesh with mage armor, or Dragonhide is more effective.

SPAX

No... All Damage reduction for physical and magic caps at 80%. No matter what you have.
