[Path of Exile] Lightning Strike Nerf & Mechanics

Just to be clear: the interaction between lightning strike and multi strike is NOT "bugged". It works absolutely as the wording indicates it should. The NERF (not fix) is a result of the ability scaling too well from 1 support gem. I think it is a bad idea to nerf it at all because the LS+MS combo really isnt any more powerful than abilities that already exist in the game.

At the same time, lightning strike still remains a fairly strong melee ability with unique mechanics.

really like your explanation on what affects LS and what doesn't. just like you said, it's a fairly 'complicated' skill in terms of passive skill efficacy wordage and technicalities. although this didn't quite encompass every question one might have such as ele dmg nodes, various added X dmg skillgems, phys projectile dmg skillgem, etc. it was a very good breakdown.

Hi Kripp and everyone. I am quite a new player to PoE, well I have been looking around for tips and guides but I've always got this big question. See, my fav character is the marauder and I love going melee but I have been facing this problem, Blood Magic or not? I realised that mana is quite a problem in early game and in late game must it always be Clarity to hold the mana regen? What are some of the alternatives I can consider and tell me some stuff about Blood Magic. Thx

Is this completely right? Because LS lightning damage is converted from your melee damage. Thus the projectile's lightning damage must in some way be related to your original melee to lightning conversion, no?

They said it was an oversight, not a bug. This is a MELEE support gem and lightning strike builds with multistrike based around the projectiles isn't even a melee build.

i thought that added fire damage only added converted damage to melee. So just to confirm, does the projectile get the + fire damage with added fire damage?

Taking the irong grip gem would be as effective till you reach the passive right ?

It's not a nerf. The patch notes say it was never intended for the projectile part to have no penalty with multistrike.

Melee is as you say very underpowered, as is physical damage, you are completely correct in that.
LS is neither melee or really physical either, and especially with multistrike it's essentially a ranged attack for ele stacking, so i don't see how this nerf is anything other then a nerf to ranged ele spam.

The point was to buff melee attacks. Lightning strike is another ranged spam skill, so it doesn't bother me that it's being nerfed.
