You just need to break the shield really fast.
After i hit the pyro thing the boss will fly lower and my mona can destroy his shield under 5 seconds, so use your best hydro characters since you only need to break the shield, no need to kill it.

I have made him fall multiple times by doing this, and yet the reward doesn't fucking show up.

Okay guys, to sum it up: first you need to destroy the thingie he leaves on the ground, to make him fly lower, and then you need to quickly attack him to destroy his shield. Both are done by applying hydro. The damage is irrelevant, its the hydro application that counts.
If you don't destroy the thingie, he will fly higher and you won't be able to reach it.
If you take too long to remove his shield, you won't get the achievement, even though he will still fall to the ground in the end.

the objective does not come from hitting the things on the floor, you need to hit the boss while he is in the mini fire dragon mode and break its shield

Guys it's hitting the flying dragon with fire shield using water element until it falls. Not hitting the fire orbs on the ground until it falls.

ADVICE: While it’s TRUE that you need to hit the torch like stick that will appear after his 3 consecutive attacks, you have to incorporate hydro attack while he’s in mid air so you can really break the shield and make it fall. Hitting that torch like is to make him lower, but to destroy the shield, incorporate hydro to your normal attack. I used Yelan and Xinqui at incorporate their burst with Scara 🥰

It took me awhile to understand. If you didnt get the achievement you're doing it wrong. You think you destroyed the shield but you didnt. The boss blows up its own shield if you dont attack the pyro shard it shoots into the ground.

Keep attacking the pyro shard it shoots AND remove its shield AFTER you shoot the shard. If you are too slow the boss will blow up its own shield and you will have to start again.
So remember: Pyro shard first > Then shield > repeat till achievement

Just did an all hydro + shielder (Noell in this case). Furina, Yelan and Mualani. Destroy the thing on the ground with hydro and pop Yelan's ult. Then go to town on the little golden bird form while surfing Mualani. All the passive off-field hydro going on drops the shield within a few seconds.

Guys. The tutorial explained a little bit wrong. So you damage the flame first, so that the Dragon now vulnerable with water damage. Then you shoot the dragon to take down his shield

For people who strugle on this. You need to actually fully break his shield, you can just attack him with any hydro character like Yelan, no need to wait for him to spawn this pyro thing on the groud.

guys you need to fall him from air through attacking to him. hitting totems helps because he lowers himself. I had to do it like 3 times to understand

To anyone who's using this method and not receiving the achievement, you need to use hydro characters to hit it whilst it's in the air, hitting the things it spawns only lowers it to the ground to make it easier to hit.

You just need to destroy his fire shield with hydro, while he's in golden mode in the air. Hitting the core just allows you to hit him easier because it will bring him closer to the ground.
