I have been getting a lot of the same question and it’s kind of a long story so if any one is wondering who Kopa is, here.

the end of lion king 1 you get to see Simba and Nala’s first cub. The director of lion king called him Kopa, but since the director for lion king 2 was a different person, he didn’t know about Kopa. So no he technically isn’t a fan made character. But his story and what happened to him is.

Me too I will love it if they make a Kopa movie or something because the backstory is unknown and the fan base one is sad or happy depending on the story I hope they make something or backstory about Rani's parents even that aren't been expected maybe they should make a show or movie about both of them or one of the other because i will love to know how Rani's parents died in the lion Guard or even Kopa being at the tree of Life before kion gets there kopa trying to save Rani's parents from a evil forsh but in the process kopa only saves rani and her brother because he fight great but sadly the anime got to them first because kopa was unconscious from the evil after wake up he fround rani and her brother next to him under his paw then he realised what happened to Rani's parents they died in the war after that sad day kopa toalk Rani and her brother back to the tree to see her grandmother Kopa told her what happened but she was in tries after that kopa requested that rani should be training for being queen because her grandmother whant latst long after staying at the tree Kopa left that was the last time he eas seen a few years ago by and Rani hears something the night prid gos to find out it is it was some weird animals who let a rock slid happen and rani trys to save her land but her brother went flying they al talked for a bit then went back to the tee after taking to her gramma she hears turns out that lion who made your bother go flying was the roar of the elders when used can be used for great good or for great evil after hearing about that Rani go's back to the rock slide they found that they stayed after talking to them turns out its the lion Guard but Rani still kinda harts kion a few days ago bye and rani saw kion roaring at a rock and she was impressed and a few hours later they started talking about how much they love each other and started singing about there love a few hours later kion hears what a traveler saying turn out is jasiri and Azaad kion gos back to the pridelands its been about one day since kion left and rani hears someone running through the path Rani checks it out its kopa he said im hurt can you heal me at the tree Rani says of course you're are hero after him healing kopa talked i fight the wrhite Tiger that kelled Rani's parents when there were young Rani wow you fight them all by myself just to get revenge on my parents your brave but its not the way of the cirl of life but you did save us your always welcome here Kopa, kopa said thank you, Rani says you welcome, Rani said kopa i think you have a brother, Kopa said no i don't i only have a sister, well kopa rani said you do because a lion came too a tree of Life to get help he had the mark of the lion Guard Kopa said wait what! i know the story so its just a story, Rani said well its real and my grandmother said that you do have brother before she died Kopa said okay then i do have brother now.. oh wait the queen died? rani said yeah a few days ago Kopa replyed wow so sorry for not being there Rani said that's fine kion was there kopa said who is kion Rani replyed hes your brother who as the roar kopa said oh when did he leave just Rani replied yesterday i miss him kopa replyed wow that's not too long ago you like him don't you Rani replyed i know right and yes i do love him Kopa said im happy for you but i think he be back rani said aww thanks and i do so. Kopa and Rani started together as a family a few days go by kion here said the night pride Rani wakes up walks to kion hi Rani said kion hi kion well i whant you to know something said rani kion replyed hi well what is it Rani replied hes your brother kopa kion replied what how can you trust him Rani replied saying well he saved me and my brother he couldn't save my parents but no way he did wow said kion no... It cant be kopa Said simba Kopa replied hi dad how things going in the pridelands Simba replied its been going great your sister is going to be queen with kovu as king and mate kopa replied wow a lot has happened since i was a cub simba and Nala replied yeh it has and look how big your sister Kiara is Kopa replied wow your so big now kaira replied you know im always the same loving sister ok kopa let's sit down and watch kion and Rani's coronation Kopa replyed okay im happy for you kion and Rani and after that kopa was asked by simba and Nala if he wants to come back? That's a nice offer but i will stay for now to get to know kion and i will come back to the pridelands to visit you and vitani simba and Nala replied okay son i will see you again soon a few months go by and Kopa visits the pridelands kopa says hi how it going? Simba and Nala replyed good but i need to tell you the story when you want here a few hours later wow that a lot of stuff i missed on said kopa Simba replyed yeah it was okay but Vitani is alone because no one trusts her go talk to her kopa replyed wow i feel bad for leaving im going to talk to her Simba replyed thats my boy kopa walking to vitani hi vitani, hi leave me alone can't you see everyone is been mean kopa replyed wow i understand that you are feeling but i sence that you need someone vitani replyed okay thanks for saying that yeah i do we know each other?
