The Impact LX88+ USB MIDI controller in action: We met up with Australian keyboard player and producer Simon Grey and asked him to have a go. He is using Logic, Mainstage and the Sylenth1 VSTi for some fine instrument and performance control. Enjoy!

Hi I just bought this amazing keyboard. But I need help with two things. I want to know to save a melody into a bank or something. I want to make synthwave music and I want to use a melody in loop by pressing and holding of the key or something a sequencer arpeggio.

And is there any way to change the control of the modulation wheel. I want to use it for sound attacks. For now, it's a vibrato thing.

Uh I dont understand how to setup this keyboard, I ordered one and only got the white cable, is that enough to make it work? Does it have to be connected to a laptop?

It's one thing to be expressive on the VST with the keyboard. Now show us how you can record all those MIDI events, and play back what you just played!

I have this keyboard since 2019 and use it every week in my live streams and everyday in my home studio/online lessons, however, I just recently ran into a situation, lately, the keyboard started to de-tune on its own, so if I play C major, and C major is on 440 Hz, it eventually jumps to C major 470 Hz, causing a very unpleasant dissonance tone in my work flow (both live stream and recording), I have already contacted customer support several times, multiple emails, they said the following:

“I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your LX88+.

Does the pitch waver over time, or is it a fixed offset?

If it wavers, it's possible that the pitch bend wheel is sending information on its own.
Often when a controller transmits erroneous data it's because dirt or dust has gotten into the control's potentiometer. This can cause noise in the circuit which will result in values fluctuating and being transmitted erroneously.

Please try quickly moving the control through it's entire range, 10-20 times. If the problem is caused by dirt, that should clear it out.

Please let me know if this does not fix the issue.

I did what was recommended and it didn’t work, I tried replying back to let them know but it wouldn’t allow me to reply back to the email, I tried emailing again but it has been over 48 hours since I’ve heard back from tech support, I already lost 5 days of work due to this and I can’t afford to lose my clients because I don’t have my keyboard up and working, I really need to get this fixed if possible. On my last email to them, I left my phone number so that they can call me, this is a really good product and I want to continue to use it but won’t be able to until it’s fixed.

My main problem with this controller was that the LX88 can only send MIDI out on 3 zones maximum (and I believe the LX88+ is the same), I wanted to control a legacy Alesis QSR and it uses 4 zones/channels for some of its sounds, so...problem...

It’s funny how I read the comments and people say ‘best in this price range’ or ‘really good within this price range’ implying that the keyboard is not bad per say, but nothing amazing either, and yet my friend keeps telling me that it’s too expensive for a non professional.
