Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 Review - Still A Speed Day Shoe?

This is my full review of the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 after 200 miles in the shoe. I bought the running shoe after I really loved using both the Speed 1 and Speed 2 as fast workout and racing shoes. Saucony made some big changes to the Speed 3 to push it a little further into a daily trainer

Great vid as always! Thx.
I really enjoyed my pair of Speed 2s and when I initially got my 1st pair of Speeds 3s I was so disappointed they lost that "poppy speed" in ver HOWEVER after a few runs I noticed the amazing versatility of the Speed 3s, it doesn't have that top end speed for high intensity workout but wow it can do anything you throw at it at a very high Using the triumphs 20, speeds 3 and pro 3 in 2023 was like having a cheat code!
3 pairs of Speed 3s later and I'm still amazed how a shoe that was released almost 2 years ago is still so relevant, don't think any other brand is doing that.

I had to size up a half size in order to enjoy them. I think they did the design change so it would be a complimentary shoe to the Endorphin Pro 3. Outside of using more foam and having a carbon plate, the shoes are almost identical.

I agree, sad to see what Saucony did with the Speed3, and by the weight of the 4s, it seems like they continuing with the same line of slowing the speed

I have tried 2 pairs of the Speed 3s, but have gone back to the Speed 2s. IMO Saucony went backwards with the 3s. Like you say, I feel more "locked in" with the 2s. Also, I feel like the 2s have more of a "roll" to them, which is an asset if you tend to be a heel- or midsole-striker. Bonus is that the 2s are very deeply discounted now.

I did get the Speed 2 after all the positive reviews and I was not dissappointed at all. Great shoe! and I just ran my latest marathon with them (they had over 800km) and I was close to get a pair of Speed 3 to run the race but finally decided to risk with the ones I had (my Novablast 2 was also another candidate).

I would not mind to get a pair of the Speed 3 and see how it´s compared.

It gets harder to rotate as you have more shoes, right? :D

Glad
I’m not the only one who feels that bottoming out

I bought this one and the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 on boxing day sale. I bought them both for the same purpose; Tempo/long run training. Would you say Puma Deviate Nitro 2 is better for that purpose? And between Boston 12 and Puma Deviate Nitro 2?

I had the early version of the Speed 3, and the upper and laces are just too stretchy, which has led to heel lift on longer runs, harder efforts and runs with lots of elevation changes. I also find all Saucony shoes to have heel pockets that are just too straight inside? Meaning the heel doesn't naturally sit in the pocket and have the upper areas around the ankle collar close in to naturally hold the heel in place. Boston 12 is the same way, but the inner heel padding helps mostly mitigate this, but would be better if the padding was continuous around the back. But then I'm sure that would aggravate a different set of runners. I've come to the conclusion that Asics makes the best heel pockets (for me), and for racers the AlphaFly/Tempo all have inner heel collar padding which locks my heel down 100%. As for the midsole on the Speed 3...it's good....but they turned it into a daily trainer with a speedy upside. It also tends to bottom out on longer efforts, especially as it has aged. I took the Speed 3 with me as my only shoe during my 2 week holiday vacation and ended up with blisters on my heels. I've probably retired the shoe now that it's at 640KM, maybe I'll keep it around for the odd easy treadmill session. I have many shoes at near end of life....things are soon gonna get expensive.
Great content as always!

So you wait until a model is no longer available then review it. You realize everyone else did videos about this when it came out, right? A year and a half late is better than never!
