My official completely infallible undeniable with absolutely no bias ranking for john wick is :

i think the majority of people agree john wick 3 seemed to be a bit off the mark for various reasons. In terms of john wick 2 it was a good follow up however it has no choice but to be relegated to the lower half of this list by the other two spectacular and over the top movies. The original john wick was everyones introduction to the walking slavic genocide machine and much of his motivations are set here. Finally in john wick 4 we get all that we love from the franchise distilled down into scene after scene of fun and action with story taking a passenger seat role to sheer fun and havoc. Most people enjoy the action scenes the most in john wick since the story in general has always been kept on the lighter side.

From best to worst : John Wick (2014) - John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) - John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023 ) - John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. I just watched JW4 yesterday and it felt just like 3rd one. Good opening, lame in the middle and great ending. It was better than the 3rd one but the first and the second movie are so far ahead that it wasn't close to them.



Mostly what I hate about these later movies are all these bullet absorbing suits and armors. In the second movie Wick at least somehow felt the bullets even though he had his bullet absorbing suit but at the start of 4th movie I was ready to be disappointed straight from the start when almost EVERYBODY had the same suit. 3rd movie ending made sense that there was a special squat with armors but in the 4th one it just feels silly that Wick and Caine just holds the suit in front of their faces and the bullets just melt to the fabric without any noticeable contact.

I enjoyed all these movies but in different way. 1 & 2 are great overall, 4 & 3 comes more to certain scenes and characters. I loved Charon in the end of 3rd movie and in the 4th movie pretty much every side character was great. I wished to see more Charon in the 4th movie. It was almost eerily what happened to him in this movie and in real life.

Off topic, but just today Aliens was reclassified to a 15, at least I think it's a reclassification, as it's on the Recently Rated section

I think the majority of favorites will fall between either #4 and #1, which divides the fanbase in a similar fashion as The Raid 1 and 2. Some people prefer the simplicity and novelty of the first movie, others prefer the expansiveness and grander set pieces of the last movie.

I'd say 1 and 4 are tied for first, I can't decide whether I prefer the short sweet and to the point first movie or the just ridiculous over the top self indulgence of the 4th. I also think 2 and 3 are roughly the same in my opinion so really it's just 2 ranks, perfection and greatness.

I'd probably swap the positions of John wick 2 and 3 - I just found JW2 the most disinteresting and underwhelming of the four). But other then that I agree completely.
