thanks for all your comments, and you're right, when shooting this review I thought it was my phone which was causing problems, but apparently it's the android app, and lots of you are having same problems. So, as I'm still experiencing some of those, be aware of that, if you have an android phone, it may cause you problems!

Be careful about the volume differences in your video. I almost got deaf when the music came on. It's bad.

Yay, someone is doing tests on an Android device and not just iPhones 👍
That's good because the Android app seems to have way more problems than the iPhone one.
Any chance of doing some tests of the (motion)timelapse / hyperlapse functions in the app?

I’ve sent mine back. I was getting very jerky video & sometimes the recording would stop unexpectedly. So disappointed as I wanted this for an upcoming trip to Italy. Going to stick to my Sony AX53 Camcorder. Nice idea though.

they way you move your gimbal is not right or the framerates of the video it hurts to the eye

The Smooth 4 is now compatible with FiLMiC Pro! This is a HUGE upgrade for this gimbal. I have tried both the Smooth 4 and the DJI Osmo 2 and prefer the Smooth 4 1000%. My Osmo just sits in a box, hoping it will be used someday if anyone is interested.

Call me crazy, but I decided to buy this gimbal about a week ago despite many of the android functions reported as not working. My phone is a Huawei Mate 9. Many of the functions are still not working, but was pleased to find some reported earlier are now working. Example, switching video resolutions, including 4K; firmware update from phone. Pano still not working, zoom is not smooth. For me, most of the stuff I see myself using are working. One problem I'm still working on is ground-level shots - if I point the gimbal down the phone bracket hits part of the frame.

My friend told me it is unable to balance iPhone XS Max.the maximum payload of Smooth 4 is 210g, and an iPhone XS max weights 7.34 oz, which is 208g. Adding any counterweight will exceed the maximum payload.

How do you use your microphone and that at the same time???

7:29 isn't portrait mode, it is sleep mode if you need to make a call or something and it turns off the motors. Portrait orientation is done by tilting the gimbal a certain way horizontally until it noticed and flips the phone.

I had a hunch at the beginning of the video that the gimbal was going to be seen onscreen. The camera on the back of the phone is close to center.
