Why don't they increase the penalty for criminals in possession of guns such as 2 yrs first offense, 5 yrs for the second offense with no early release.

So, it appears as though gun control is about convenience? Saying fees, time, and training is an obstacle makes no sense. What is the logic and I mean it? Why would a gun owner want to be less safe? Again, what is the logic?
OR is this just about money like everything else? More laws slow sales so let's do nothing...can that be right?

I've never understood the importance of the gun culture with so many Americans. I'm not judging them per se but i simply don't relate to it. As far as the newscast it went from Mental people attacking an innocent woman to Blacks killing each other, to gun discussions in Salem, Then another mental case driving a whatever machine going crazy on the street. Makes you wonder does much of anything good, ever happen in Portland and Oregon in general. At least the state is trying to do something to put some guidelines on guns. Though its obvious and its blatantly obvious many would prefer, everyone owns and carries a gun. That there be absolutely no restrictions on anyone owning one. Lets be honest that's what's going on. It would be pretty difficult for Oregon to give everyone what they want. It's no wonder the state has to take action. Finally some pleasant news about a skate park and at least some weather without rain.

The hospital has no control on holding patients unless the police puts a hold on them. The victim needs to sue the police as well.

I wish the Democrats would give up on gun control and move on to the real issue of income inequality. Seems evident to me if people are earning enough money to live a decent life there would be a lot less mental health issues which would lead to fewer crimes like this. A properly used gun is a social benefit
