It’s the: being in a body of darkness and not being able to see anywhere in the distance or below your feet(except in shadows) but KNOWING that there’s definitely SOMETHING For me

I have thalassaphobia it literally sucks-
If I’m in a pool by myself I get scared the floor is gonna open up and be a super deep pool or somethings gonna appear and attack me, it’s not a fear of pools, lakes or the beach, it’s a fear of what lurks within the depths of the water.

Didn’t know I was scared of this until my heart started beating as if someone just broke into my house. 😀🤚

I love to see documentary's about the ocean. Especially the coral reef. But NOT the great deep.
I have strong thalassophobia.

Every single phobia is terrifying, it just depends on which you are most terrified of.

Whenever I sail I have this thought in the back of my head that goes: "wouldn't it be terrifying if a massive leviathan kraken like monster jumped out of the water and snatched you up like it's nothing?"

Used to love swimming until we went to India for a vacation at the beach, dived in the water but after sometimes in the water, the waves took me off the shore, I wasn't panicking cause the lifeguards were already coming for me but then my feet bumped into something, looked down and went in to see what it was then there it was, a massive ass whale slowly swimming underneath me, I immediately paniced and was screaming for the guards to come faster, I knew it wouldn't technically harm me but it was so fucking scary, it probably was bigger than 3 bus combined, I was looking around me and realised I was on the home of the scariest things to exist on, panicked again and again, but the guards came in, swooped me up and let me on the boat... I still remember as we were going back, I was looking at the ocean and realised how fucking scary the ocean is, never again have I swimed in the sea for years 💀

I have this wired fear called Misophobia. Basically certain noises (fire alarm, weather alarm, certain repetitive beeping, etc) cause me to panic and get very anxious/scared... it would be cool to see a vid on this one

Is it a phobia when it's just a rational fear?

You see a giant eye underneath you while you're swimming - I think it's okay to be a little terrified.

i’m just scared of what lurks in the ocean/lakes, especially when i’m not able to see the bottom if the water isn’t clear. but i’m fine in pools because i can see everything and i can avoid bugs and whatever

Thalassophobia and hydrophobia are my main two fears. I also dislike being in a room by myself with nothing around me.

I have this- I actually used to be a very strong swimmer, and would swim to the bottom of lakes to look for old bottles. But as I grew older, my anxiety became more severe, and I struggled to go into oceans and lakes, I hated not being able to see the bottom as my mind tended to wander and overreact. It's gotten so bad that I cannot even stand to be in a kiddie pool, despite there being an obvious bottom.

Thalassaphobia isn’t actually really related to the things found in deep water but it’s a fear of deep dark large quantities of water itself. That’s the irrationality of the phobia.
