I’ve been going to this aquarium ever since I was little. It’s one of my favorite places to go. Among things he didn’t mention or was unaware about is that the actually have a crocodilian and amphibian exhibit by the theater. They hold sea lion shows we’re they will occasionally come out of the exhibit (still away from people) and they go in-depth about them.
As he mentioned they have the shark touch tank but they also have an invertebrate touch tank. On top of that when it’s warm they have a stingray touch tank were you can feed them too.

The belugas are great because if you have little kids one will swim up behind them and open their mouth waving their head around.

I remember when I was little I had brought one of my favorite toys with me and as I didn’t know any better I stuck it into the open freshwater tank he mentioned and one of the fish came up and tried to eat it. Luckily neither one of us got hurt.

I have season passes for my kids and myself. They have literally been 100 times over the years and they still love going.
It’s a smaller place but there is something about it that makes it special.
Its better then Boston Aquarium

The research and rescue they do there is actually amazing! They work very hard taking care of all of their fishy residents. Paying to go there is paying for their animal rehabilitation programs there and all around CT andRI. It isn't a sea world. It is part of a larger effort to protect and care for sea life in the northeast and beyond

Love mystic aquarium! They take amazing care of the animals there. We like to visit every year

Mystic in general is a good place to go and wander around, it’s got tons of stuff to do. I recommend the Mystic Seaport if you’re into colonial and nautical history. The Mayflower replica is even in port there for part of the year (it’s currently in Plymouth, MA as of writing however).

Really cool how that done the touch tank. It will be so relaxing for the fish to get a nice grab from some children! Great way to enrich there life and make it more exiting for them

I used to work here before covid hit, I was one of the people staffed on exhibit to answer questions. It was a fun place to work and I still kind of miss it. One of the better aquariums out there for sure, would recommend paying a visit if you're in Connecticut. Definitely would not visit during summer vacation though if you can help it, it gets pretty rowdy.

My first aquarium that i ever went too! It may be small but its a small community vibe around those parts. You graduate from mystic and eventually head to the boston aquarium in new England.
