How does this create more stability as opposed to having the whole foot down? aren't the toes a smaller base and the lifted heel more challenging for the ankle?
is the logic that you need a long calf muscle to plant your heel down into the ground?

Will you tell me where I might increase my mobility so that my foot that is planted can remain on the ground in this pose please? I think it might be a hip issue.

My issue is moving from back to front in skandasana without the use of my hands. It’s to deep of a movement and I actually injured myself pretty bad. Otherwise I agree it’s a great and fun pose when done safely to practice 😊
