I had a driver taking me to doctor’s appointment back and forth, and all he listened to was country and I just couldn’t stand it. They all sound the same!!!! Totally pissed me

country is like rap in the fact that alot of it got destoryed from the radio hits, good country subgenres like americana, country folk, and red dirt.

We need country music that's about cosmic horrors, now that'd be interesting to listen to

Dawg, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers. That's country music I like, it tells a story.

Everything past the 80s has been about a man's wife leaving him shooting his dog because he got drunk and crashed his truck because he was drunk. It's nails on fucking chalkboard.

My entire family besides me loves country and I hate it because we went to Hawaii and I was so hyped and I made a whole playlist which was 5 hours long and my parents wouldn’t let me bring my music anywhere and “enjoy the beauty”. So I was stuck listening to country music and my only grasp at freedom was in the condo, but we were in Hawaii so we were never there. Now every time I think about that trip I end up getting Eric church stuck in my head. I want my vacation back.

My self-driving truck left me but at least I still have my beer, my jeans, and my fake southern accent.

Classic modern rap: “suck my **** women in Paris smoking looney toons. I got so much ice I’m cold”

Point is there’s a checklist in every genre

Because all of the instruments are the
same, They always sing about the same topics, Their voices all sound the same, The sound never changes, It's predictable, and Country music is boring and a forgettable Music Genre

They always sing about Beer, Alcohol, Trucks, America and Girls it’s like they have nothing new to sing about

Cringey Repetitive Themes

Even if the term country music is nowadays used to describe many styles and subgenres, it keeps repeating itself when it comes to themes like cowboy lifestyle, countryside, women, beer, bars, trucks, and other iconic objects and themes of the southern lifestyle.

Often Exaggerated Southern Accent

Every Song is the Same

There are common themes in most of the country music that is out there today. Songs can start to feel stale and repetitive after a while.

Heartbreak and hard work are some of the most common themes and while that may be alright for a while, there aren’t enough variances.

I used to say I hated country music through grade school and even a bit after. My dad used to play Alan Jackson's greatest hits Volume 2 and I thought it was alright but nothing special. I was more into rock and metal during then and whenever I heard a Country song on the radio I wanted to jump out of the car. I recently have been trying to expand my music taste and re-listened to that album and it hit me hard. He puts his soul into his songs and isn't like 98 percent of every popular artist (not only country) that just hops onto the next trend or sings about the same things over and over again. Then I found a guy names Sturgill Simpson and I actually really enjoyed him too. He doesn't adhere to the mainstream Country music stereotypes and it turns out he doesn't even like country music that much😅. Then I realized the "Country" music i'd heard on the radio was practically pop music with a cowboy hat and boots. I've only found a handful of artists in the Country/Bluegrass genre that I enjoy, but I understand why a lot of people don't like that stuff. Luckily there are quality artists from all genres, you just need to find them.

I personally love country. The new crap is horrible but old 90s country is good like Alan Jackson, tim McGraw and hank Williams jr

I’m here to understand why no one likes country! Hurts my heart :(

Country is my favorite genre of music. Its the first music I was introduced to, and it's the only music I really liked. Like, Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey" is such a beautiful song. I think the reason people hate it so much is because it's pretty much the only music out right now, but all the songs from the genre out right now are amazing! It's really not the bad 😊

That’s why I don’t like Rap or Country lol

The only reason why I despise country is the vocals, there's something about the pitches and notes transmission? Kind of like vibrato, if it's too much it distracts from the actual singing and music. For country, singers sound like the pitch of whinny children and completely aloof. This wasn't an accurate description but the close to my reasoning.

Honestly, it’s not that I think country may be terrible, it’s that for some of us we have one family member who’s played it so much, so aggressively and endlessly, we end up wanting to stab our ears every time it comes on

Country and especially bluegrass music does require a lot of skill and technical ability, but that’s about all it has going for it imo, it’s just so lame.

Country music is a very broad umbrella for a lot of subgenres. It stretches from introspective country folk from the likes of Emmylou Harris, Iris Dement, John Prine and Townes Van Zandt, the Nashville sound country pop of the 50s-60s from the likes of Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Jim Reeves, Connie Smith, Jeannie Seely, straight country like Loretta Lynn, George Jones, outlaw country like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Jessi Colter, country pop like Barbara Mandrell, Janie Fricke, Juice Newton, Dolly Parton, as well as rockabilly, the bakersville sound, bluegrass, countrypolitan, country rock etc.

It's such a diverse umbrella and it can't be summed up by a few pop hits on the radio. There is always great music being created, you just have to know where to look
