Apparently something I need to clarify is that when I was referring to my uncles age, I DID not say that because I think he is old. First off, I said "he's like 40" because I couldn't remember exactly what age he is, but he is in his 40's. I didn't mean it in a demeaning way. Secondly, since he is SO young still (and not that much older than myself), and a lot of people around his age group (and older!) are quite tech savvy, and do own phones, it is something that is interesting to me! Please don't take offense to something I did not even say, and if you're offended, just ask me to clarify instead of insulting me and my heart. Thank you 💛

German here, thought that not taking your shoes off indoors was a movie or show thing, until recently. there is absolutly no reason to not take them off when you come home, like you don´t need them

It’s so ironic to promote a money box while also promoting useless gadgets that will make it impossible for people to save money if they indulge in.

The Stanley people are one pothole away from wearing their snacks 😂

When I saw the shoe cover dispenser I automatically thought about how useful it would be for Real estate agents open house showings. Many Americans take off their shoes, no matter their culture, when they enter the house.

Shoe protectors are usually for open houses or for like plumbers/ contractors in your home. Not everyday use.

The cup rinse attachment is something that we had when I worked at Starbucks. Rinsing the pitchers between drinks. It was super handy and honestly fun to use, but in your personal home is not necessary 😂

During the pandemic I almost fell for someone trying to pitch a cereal dispenser of sorts, when I don't even eat cereal that much. The problem is that we always think "oh, if I have that then I will use it/start doing x" when it's not the truth. Objects don't just create habits for you and just because you have it, it doesnt automatically mean you will like it and use it.

I've never actually seen somoene with a accesorized Stanley cup in the wild. I think that and the phone cases with lip gloss holders are absolute nonsense.

The water bottle accessories are hysterical. We used to put all that crap in something we called a purse. It was amazing. You could get different colors and sizes. So sad that people don't know about these.

Unless it's falling apart, you really don't even need to replace a toilet brush. Replacing your brush every 3 months seems wasteful as well.

I’m an American from small town, Midwest. It’s always wild to me when people say Americans wear their shoes in the house, that taking your shoes off at the door is something people only do from foreign countries.
Like, I have never met a single person who wears shoes in the house. Every single time I’ve stepped into someone’s house, family or otherwise, you always take your shoes off. It’s an American thing too, no one does this lol

2nd grade teacher here. According to my Social Studies curriculum: A must-have aka a “need” falls into the category of air, clothes, shelter, healthy food, and water. You can live without everything else. 😂

Alton Brown is known to say “the only unitask object in my kitchen is a fire extinguisher”. I have tried to apply this quote in all household areas where it is safe and effective to do so. I find this and the “sparks joy” philosophy of Marie Kondo have given my home a joyful, eclectic but not cluttered esthetic. 💜

Once I retired and started being home all the time I realized how much stuff we had. Everything had a place and was in it’s place but just way too much unnecessary stuff. I spent three years very slowly decluttering and downsizing. Everything from tchotchkes and clothes to furniture and the “what the hell is this” category. Now our house has breathing room. So much better. The thought of bringing any of this stuff into our house is like a nightmare. No just no!

The glass rinser is another thing that people spotted in a professional setting - and decided that this is needed in domestic spaces.

I am a bartender and those rinsers are super helpful (and at some busy venues necessary) We use them for cocktail shakers and sometimes you will see them in cafes to rinse milk jugs. Sometimes for more heavy duty glasses/mugs that had something staining in them.

Now - the reason we use them is not because they are better at rinsing /cleaning than water from the tap - its because it saves like 5 seconds on each time you have to rinse something. Which, when you busy, and you need to churn those drinks out, can really help.
You do not need to save 5 seconds 3 times a day, when you are using a glass or a mug, and you shouldn’t be using anything delicate on this either, so no wine glasses, no flutes, no thin glassware

Also - you have to clean them, which is not hard but you have to take it apart, use kitchen towel to dry it, and then clean it. And that should be done every day, because the leftover bits from your glass and water is a very easy way to get mould. So its just so tedious.

It reminds me of people justifying that you need a stanley because it can hold ice for 2 days. They have been produced and used by blue collars workers, either for hot drink when you go to work at 5am, or for cold water when you work in sun. Why do you need two days old ice? The same people will not drink a glass of water if its been sitting on the counter for longer than 2 hours. I say - look me in the eyes and tell me you will use the water bottle with two days old water and ice…
