Have You Ever Seen The Rain By Smokie With Lyrics

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know - It's been coming for some time
When it's over so they sy
It'll rain a sunny day
I know shining down like water
I want to know
have you ever seen the rain
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
comin' down on a sunny day
Yesterday and days before
sund is cold and rain is hard
I know - been that way for all my time
'till forever on it goes
Through the circle fast and slow
I know - and it can't stop I wonder
I want to know...
someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know - it's been coming for some time
When it's over so they say
It'll rain a sunny day
I know - shining down like water
I want to know...
I want to know...

Smokie | Biography

Originally formed in Yorkshire, England, in 1966, Smokie hit the British pop charts several times during the late '70s with updated psychedelic pop, influenced by the band's stay on Mickie Most's Rak Records as well as the writers of most of the band's hit material, Rak's Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. Vocalist Chris Norman, guitarist Terry Utley, and bassist Alan Silson had played in the Elizabethans, but formed the band Kindness in 1968, with the addition of drummer Pete Spencer. The quartet recorded many singles during the late '60s and early '70s, but failed to show any chart activity until 1975. That year, signed to Rak Records and billed as Smokey, the band hit number three in the U.K. with "If You Think You Know How to Love Me." After another Top Ten hit, "Don't Play Your Rock 'N Roll to Me," Smokey became Smokie; during 1976, the group scored with three Top 20 hits, including the number-five "Living Next Door to Alice." Smokie hit number five both in 1977 ("It's Your Life") and 1978 ("Oh Carol"), but the band's chart run ended by early 1980, and following 1982's Midnight Delight, they disbanded. Both Spencer and Norman continued to work at Rak during the '80s, writing hits for several groups; they reformed Smokie in 1988, resurfacing with the LP My Heart Is True. Two more

I'm an older American and absolutely LOVE all of Smokie's music. I have most of their music on MP3 and listen to it all the time. I've yet to find anyone else who has ever heard of them! Man, what a loss, for them and Smokie! They're in my Top 5 all time favorites along with Dr Hook, Chris de Burgh, Roberto Carlos (Brazilian), & Barclay James Harvest (who no one over hear has ever heard of either). I'm so so glad I found them and even more fortunate to have found them when I was a teenager living in the Azores at the time.

Causes me to wonder what other artists are out there that exist, and no one ever knows they're alive. It really pays to be open minded and to always keep looking outward. Thanks to iTunes app, I can get music from anywhere in the world. I'm fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, which has opened many doors as well.

Had heard the song for the first time back in 1970 in a not-so-big town of Mukachevo in western Ukraine. The performing group name was "Mandry" (close to "Wanderer"). The soloist's English, highly likely, wasn't perfect, so, frankly, I had no grasp of the whole lyrics. But the tune, the syncopated and wailing' rendering won my ears and heart. I hear the group under this name is still performing. Whether they are the same guys or some of them I wish them good luck.

"Have You Ever Seen the Rain" is a song written by John Fogerty and released as a single in 1971 from the album Pendulum (1970) by roots rock group Creedence Clearwater Revival. The song charted highest in Canada, reaching number one on the RPM 100 national album chart in March 1971.[1] In the US, it peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the same year.
