I am indian, and this question is for indians who pissed off and giving wrong comments, this is based on true story so they are showing what really the story is, not showing poor india. What they do if that guy who lost was not billionaire but poor, and this is the bitter truth about our country. When indian dramas and cinema shows huge mansions and rich families then you say why they are always rich in films, and when someone show you the truth, you get pissed. We are poor and rich, we are educated and uneducated, we are perfect and imperfect, but in our heart we are indians, and proud to be an indian, and we always praise if something is good, never say bad words.

As an Australian, I am lost for words on how perfectly Dev does the accent.

I have legitimately never cried so much watching a movie. From the beginning to the end. This movie nearly mirrored my childhood except the running away from child capturues. I was born in Romania is the 90's where there was a huge percentage of unwanted children in train stations. I live there until I was 5 and was brought in a car to a children home where I was that year adopted to a Irish family which was unusual because I a lot of parents wanted newborns. I didn't know any English, and was literally starting to learn about escalators in airports, televisions, etc. I integrated very well the first year and was very excited about the whole thing. My sister who was also adopted from Russia two years later found it very hard the first years but is now fine. And I also graduated from a degree in Bachelor of Honours in Hotel Management which completely surprised me with similarly to the film. The reason why I feel so passionate is because this movie portrayed an essence of stories that are not being told enough. The cast was absolutely phenomenal and the movie was heart wrenching. Probably nobody is going to read all of this because it's like a thesis lol. Kudos to everyone in this film!!!

I'm crying the whole time. This happend to me and my older brother. Also in India. We're adopted now. I live in Germany, but I remember everything that happened than. It was so scary, every night, thinking of someone who will take you to another place. We made friends with other homeless kids. Some of them are adopted, some of them are dead. This happens every day all over the world. Its so sad😢❤

Just went to see Lion, it's the first time in my life where I am positive someone was cutting onions inside the theater, really strange. And they kept cutting them throughout the movie...

I feel like this one of those movies you watch at home with best friends that you're okay with them seeing you cry because you will all be *bawling*.

5 weeks and I still can't get this story off my mind. It kills me to know things like this happen everyday and kids are homeless with no family

They should make a movie about his mother. She lost both her sons. Just can't imagine what she might have been through.

This is the only reason why I love Hollywood rather than Bollywood
Hollywood gives chance to Real actors but Bollywood gives chance to only star

Holy crap... what an amazing movie. And obviously, Dev Patel is an amazing actor. But that little kid... goddamn.... what a brilliant performance.

I'm adopted and found my birth family later in life. The movie does a good job of showing the the good and bad of being adopted, and the guilt of even looking for your real family. What moved me most was at the end realizing the time that elapsed would be different for his birth mother and him. For her, 20 years would seem like yesterday, for him a lifetime.

While he's remembering things from 25 years ago, I'm still trying to remember what shirt I wore yesterday.
