The 5 Powerful Effects of the Sacrament of Confirmation

Today, Fr. Mike breaks down the 5 effects that flow from receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

— The Catechism of the Catholic Church states in paragraph 1303:
"From this fact, Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace:
- it roots us more deeply in the divine filiation, which makes us cry, "Abba! Father!";
- it unites us more firmly to Christ;
- it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us;
- it renders our bond with the Church more perfect;
- it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross.

I think for me a simple way that I've been practicing not being ashamed of the cross, is by making the sign of the cross every time I'm on public transport—taxi, uber, or bike, especially. At the beginning of my trip, I cross myself and say a little prayer for safety no matter how short the distance. I learnt this from my best friend and I encourage everyone to do it. 🙏🏾❤️

67 years old and I am just beginning to realize my faith. I am struggling to be in as perfect step as any human being can be with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Little by little I learn and adore God. If I had ever been told so many things about the Catholic Church and my religion I have long forgotten them.

I am a convert to the Faith. 3 years this Pentecost I was Confirmed. I love it!!! 🥰 was Jewish my whole life until I was baptized Baptist in 2009. I just really wish that I could’ve been baptized in the Catholic Church. I am 53 years old and was confirmed two weeks ago. I can testify personally that this is all true, although I hadn't seen it presented in such an inspiring and moving way until now. In two short weeks I have noticed a VERY significant shift in my life. I also put the time in to be there for and to listen and care for my relationship (for my evolving relationship with God, Jesus, and more recently Mary) in the same way I would for any relationship that I have for someone I love (i.e. my life companion or a parent or friend). Our church uses DVD’s with YOU in them! My husband is finishing his confirmation and it was fabulous seeing you! I told the Confirmation Leader all about your YouTube channel and now the kids are watching it along with adults in the church! So wonderfully stated!!! I cannot wait to show this to my son who will be Confirmed next year. We took this school year to take extra study time to prepare for his Conformation with Chosen by Ascension and it was so helpful. It's beautiful to see the Spiritual growth in your child. 💙💙💙

Thank you for this video Father Mike, I just had my last class for my RCIA, I have been confirmed on this year's Easter Vigil mass and it's nice to see a video about confirmations, what timing indeed haha. It's true about the Holy Spirit strengthening our faith in Christ, before I used to be ashamed for no particular reason of doing the cross in front of others, somehow I believed in this lie that I am making others uncomfortable for showing appreciation and act of belief in my God, in Jesus Christ Himself. After I joined the RCIA program, I started to pray more boldly in public before I consume any meals, or even just a drive out to a nearby area to pick up groceries or visit a friend or to work, I would have this habit of praying to God to join me and it reminds me that God is always with me no matter what. I pray to continue this habit as it is still a struggle, I have become better than I was before and hope to continue growing in Christ's strength.
