Super Saw with NI Massive

The Super Saw was made famous by the Roland JP 8000 in the 90’s. The idea was to emulate the sound of more than one sawtooth oscillator by detuning 7 saw tooth oscillators detuned against each other.

This is now one of the most iconic synth sounds of all time. While Massive doesn’t have a true Super Saw sound, you can emulate very well.

Unfortunately there is not one section in Massive that allows you to get that Super Saw sound. You have to apply some tips and tricks in the Oscillators, Envelopes, Voicing Tab and even the FX to pull of a really convincing Super Saw. But once you know how to manipulate each section of the synth to make a very big and wide sound, making a Super Saw is quick and easy!

Great tutorial but I recommend balancing the volume of your voice with the volume of the synth. If I have your voice at an audible volume the synth is insanely loud! If I turn it down I can't hear your voice. I ended up turning on the subtitles.

is there lots of processing on your chord examples? ive followed your tutorials but my chords sound weak, thin and nowhere near as powerful as what you're playing and i cant figure out why. Great tutorials by the way!

you should try to use different wave forms like a sine and triangle instead of just using a saw youd be surprised by the results

The filters are not important at all to create a supersaw

2:07 is not a "huge Supersaw", it sounds more like a random saw-patch with some unison. Electronic music has gone backwards, where I am very seldom impressed by today's sound design. Most just sound basic not worked through sound design. Much, much EDM sounds like they just took the first dance preset in the stock list, and just went on with that. They are nowadays extremely possessed by super developed mix, where sidechain is a trend word that obviously has replaced elegant sound design. Much EDM is basically crap synths, crap composition with a stunning technical mix. Crap composition we heard in this demo, a typical musically dead chord progression which gives absolutely nothing musically, but fills up a dead space in the mix. It was long time ago I heard a real melody in ekectronic music, and as soon as I hear a real melody, I buy that track; I buy a track less than one time every two month.
Meanwhile, we keep on going with the "fat Supersaws" and the Mozart-like melodies, but with a lot of SIDECHAIN.
