3:02 You're following just 1 second behind the car in front of you, instead of the minimum 2 sec, recommended 3 sec. You took 0.6 seconds to react to him slowing (time between his brake lights coming on and your camera view dipping when you braked). Which left you just 0.4 seconds to slow down enough to avoid him. The problem wasn't that he "abruptly" hit the brakes. The problem was that you were following too closely so barely had enough time to react and avoid him.
