How to block any website on Windows 10 (Easy Method!)

The number you have to add is 127.0.0.1 (you can just copy paste it), and then click space one time, and after it put in the address of the website you're trying to block.

Most people will use this method to block facebook, block instagram, or block websites inappropriate for children. If you're using this for a kid, I guarantee you they won't be able to unblock it :)

It didn’t work for me at first but here is what I did.

it's the same method just spacing added.

1. Skip 2 lines before typing in the 127.0.0.1
2. After typing in the above number, press “tab” instead of “spacebar” and type the website to be blocked.

3. Save the file and you should be good to go

It didnt work for me, I got past all the administrator stuff but i can still get to the same website after I block it

it wont let me save it, it says i do not have permission it wants me to save to the documents and i tried that but it still wont work

To get around the administrator permissions copy the "hosts" file onto your desktop and then edit the file there and copy it back into etc folder. Note, you will need to have admin access on the computer to move the file but it will get you past microsoft's block on the file.

1. Search "notepad" in search bar
2. Right click and "run as administrator"
3. Follow the same instructions to find the folder
4. Select "show all" when you get to the etc file.
5. continue with instructions

i cant save the file i press save and it has the box asking me where to save and what to call it. I keep it as hosts and it says "hosts.txt is taken choose a different name" then i change the name and save it as a txt because thats the only thing it lets me save it as then i go on the website and it still works. why?
