That’s interesting. A few weeks ago I caught 3 dogfish in quick succession and though lightly hooked and returned quickly they all got washed back up the beach and had little interest in returning to deep water.🤷‍♂️

Had to give up fishing due to my health, cant get to the old spots we used to fish, , gutted, an i really miss it,

We get spurdogs up to double figures in late spring early Summer in Co Clare Ireland, they come in huge shoals, there for a few days then you have to wait another year, a marine biologist I know has them well timed from research, see his car there and there's fish, packs of tope stay longer same story you'll catch loads They just pass by a rocky mark over sand. Well done nice fish 👍

Oh yes, good fighters and they jump, I lost a good rod to one, I using peeler crab and I was sorting out some fresh baits so I wasn’t paying attention and the next thing one of the rods went over rattled along and into the drink never to be seen again. I know what it was because when this was all happening on shore a giant smoothie was putting on a great show about 50 meters offshore, I meant this was a giant record breaking material but once again it’s a story of the one that got away

You mean you chucked it in the shallow surf and because of being caught, it didn't have the energy to make it out past the swell and got washed back onto it died.
