Avengers: Doomsday is an upcoming superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. Starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. The film is a sequel to Avengers: Endgame, Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It is the thirty-ninth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the second installment of Phase Six.

A sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, will be released on May, 2027.

Robert Downey Jr. is playing Victor Von Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and, as far as we're aware, he's not an Iron Man Variant or an evil Tony Stark who is wearing Doctor Doom's armour in place of Iron Man's.

That's for the best but there's still a very exciting Multiverse tale to be told here. In an ideal world, we'd have met Doom in The Fantastic Four: First Steps and he'd already have a history with that team and other MCU heroes.

Cillian Murphy, Giancarlo Esposito, Mads Mikkelsen, plenty of big names were suggested for Doctor Doom by fans and they were all as predictable and safe as the last.

We're not saying they wouldn't have done a great job but Downey is an exciting, out-of-the-box choice no one saw coming. And, love or hate the fact Downey has already played Iron Man, there's no denying the Comic-Con announcement has got fans talking in a way they wouldn't have had Marvel Studios unmasked an actor constantly cast as bad guys on screen.

Theories for Avengers: Doomsday

Multiverse Convergence: One of the most popular theories suggests that Avengers: Doomsday will heavily explore the multiverse. Fans believe that different versions of beloved characters, like alternate versions of Iron Man and Captain America, will join forces with the main Avengers to combat a multiversal threat, possibly led by Doctor Doom.

Dark Avengers Formation: With the introduction of new characters, there are whispers about the formation of the Dark Avengers. This theory suggests that some former heroes may turn rogue or that new characters, like Wolverine or Ghost Rider, could align with darker forces.

I'm sorry. I just can't get past the fact that RDJ is Ironman. He's a great actor not taking nothing away and I know Chris Evans played both captain America and the human torch but there was a significant time span between that but more importantly he was only torch for one movie and captain America for MANY movies. RDJ was Ironman in not just one movie but MANY movies. Im sure hes gonna do a great job but i wish they would have chosen a different actor to play Doom.

I wanted Kang and his variants recasted, and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty restored. Kang the Conqueror is my favorite multiversal big bad villain! Man! Goddammit.
