Lock them up for a long time. Make an example of them.

Never sign up for rewards cards/memberships (like you get at your local gas station, grocery store, coffee shop, convenient store, etc.). Never click on ads, or links sent to you via txt or email from someone you do not know and even if you know them verify they meant to send you the link or better yet just type in the address yourself. Never gove out personal info over the phone (the IRS, Banks, Courts, utilities etc. will NEVER ask you over the phone for personal info, if someone claims to be them asking for info, they are scammers). Do NOT play stupid 20 questions on social media disguised as some cute game, like "1 point for each yes on the questions"... "remembers their 1st phone#" "still lives in the state they were born". Don't let businesses scan your DL or ID. Never leave more than your insurance card & registration paperwork in your car.

I remember in 2020 my bank notified that someone was trying to spend my money in Australia. Another person tried to pay an direct tv bill with my money here in Chicago. I cancelled and replaced every card i own and set up every security measure allowed.
