In 2008 I lost my welding shop and my house to the bank. I had six mouths to feed. A rancher friend's wife saw me using food stamps and scolded me, "I'll never take a handout even though we're broke and I can't afford beef from our own ranch." I simply replied, "We all got screwed in the recession, but this food card lets me buy your beef."

I live in a farming community in California. They say the harvesting has stopped because the workers haven't shown up. The produce is rotting in the fields. The irony is that most of these farms fly Trump flags.
