You are the best English teacher I have ever seen. I find your lessons a lot easier to understand, more practical and informative than any other teacher. British English is spoken more widely around the world than I thought, and I think it is necessary for anyone to learn British English.

The first time my teacher/friend told me about "R-linking" I hardly could believe him! I thought it's just about words like "idea-r-ov-something.." I couldn't imagine other examples. Thank u.

As a Scotsman, and English teaching professional working predominantly in Asia the non-rhoticity of Southern English is certainly an issue for language learners. Many of them take great pains to learn the proper pronunciation and distinction between /l/ and /r/ phonemes, only to learn later, as we try to naturalize their accent by listening to British native speakers, that the /r/ phoneme is reduced to the point of insignificance. They are then further confounded by the fact that my own accent, is very rho-tic in fact, Scots are well known for rolling r's. They are often left thinking WTF.

I think the British accent is more easy than the American accent because, we have been learning american accent since 4. grade school and everybody havent learn American accent yet... and now I am at 12. grade (highschool) and I have started to learn British accent last week but my accent already improved so much and I can understand all British conservatives. THANKS for this video, because so useful for me. Greetings from TURKEY!

I'm surprised that I was right about [j] when I was discussing it with my prosody teacher at the University! She always corrected me on my speech like "no, British people don't pronounce it like that, where did you hear that?". I did it unconsciously. And then I didn't think much about it, I believed her, because, actually, she has a great British accent (we are Russian Byelorussians, by the way :D). And then I discovered your channel ( need more practice myself). I'm going to show her this video on the next lesson. Nevertheless, thank you for your work! Your lessons are very useful!)
