European Cars - Instant Impression

Показать описание
When you go to Europe, you're immediately struck by how vastly different the cars are from the ones you'll find in the wide open United States where the gas, relatively speaking, is as cheap as water. Isaac Bouchard takes us on a brief walking tour of just a few of the unusual cars parked downtown in Trollhattan, Sweden. They come in all shapes and sizes, but there's generally a theme: small and fuel efficient.

"Skoda used to be nobody" I'm not so sure about that statement.

The thing is that European cars have to be fuel efficient. If Americans would have to pay 7-8 $ per gallon the car market in USA would look completely different.

It's very clear that European car makers are at least 2 decades ahead of US car makers, and the Asian car makers are at least a decade ahead.
Take the Mercedes range for instance.   3 litre twin turbo diesel that gets 7.5 litres per 100km. and get to 100kph. in less than 5 seconds.   Light years ahead of the US.
Most in the Mercedes range now use only 2 litre motors that are incredible machines that can in some instances get to 100km/h in under 5 seconds.   Super vehicles indeed.   And NO, I do not own one.

Skoda is pronounced Shkoda and you would better learn something about this company's history before talking crap on camera. It was never an Eastern European company either, check where Eastern Europe is. What a lot of crap in that video.

First and for most I believe people debadge the car because it looks much less cluttered and far more contemporary and more European, I know Americans like pin stripes and stuff, but we don't.

1:40 The engine sliding under the floor in case of an accident isn't anything new, nor was it invented by Mercedes-Benz. The first car that had it was the 1955 Citroën DS.

you're a car guy in Trollhättan and you don't even mention Saab, while there are two of these parked in your vicinity (grey 9-3 Sport Hatch right from the start, and a yellow 9-3 OG convertible at 1:16).
Maybe you prefer to ignore what GM did to that brand ?

I just have to say that Skoda (or Škoda in czech) is from czech republic which is in CENTRAL Europe, I mean Prague is west of Vienna and would you call Austria Eastern Europe? Of course not so stop calling czech rep. eastern...

American cars = straight line.
European cars = Athletic agility.
The average European mans weight about 170 pounds. So no need here for a little truck to move our ass around.
