Qualcomm is helping bring about that future by taking its expertise in the fields of IoT and the Connected Intelligent Edge and partnering with industry leaders looking to make digital transformation a reality.

Qualcomm is also bringing the Connected Intelligent Edge to the electrical grid, which will be an essential component in its modernization to become more efficient and accessible. This can help increase adoption of electric cars and other emerging technologies. As more electricity is needed each year to power these technologies, the Connected Intelligent Edge enables better management and optimized usage of that electricity, leading to more efficiencies like local power generation and consumption.

The Connected Intelligent Edge can also help improve retail and factories by improving efficiency. Real-time processing of data can create adaptive pricing to help retailers manage stock and reduce unnecessary labor. Wireless data processing can make factories more easily reconfigurable, opening up spaces to more possibilities. That wireless processing will make 5G a key component because of its low latency and high reliability. Factories with 5G networks will be able to support protocols like TSM (TIme Sensitive Network), which will further improve productivity.
