I make mine differently. Use heavy cream, one stick butter, full tin flat anchovies, 4 cloves garlic. Melt butter, add anchovies and garlic. Over low heat, frequently stir anchovies dissolve, then add one pint heavy cream. Stir over low heat. Then add the heavy whipping cream. Perfect for dipping crusty italian bread and the veggies! Yummy!

I'm Irish and have making this for our xmas dinner starter for years. It started as a way to make sure our young kids ate veggies (as well as chocolate), but we all love it and its now tradition. Its noe accomapnoes by prawn/bacon/jalapeños skewers 😃

Never tried raw fennel. I know fennel flavour from the fennel seeds in mild Italian sausage crumbles. So delicious.

My family makes it with a butter base instead of oil and we add a bit of red wine vinegar at the very end right before serving it but it’s a fave recipe that we always make around the holidays!

Is this different than bagna calda? Which is whole roasted garlic cloves in olive oil flavored with anchovies..anchovies removed before serving… ??
