Fun fact: in my acting class my professor has us doing the sign for clapping after a scene/exercise instead of actual clapping. He worked with a program in a deaf school and just got used to it. Also creates less noise pollution. It’s honestly so fun ❤

He looks really excited, I'm glad he does that. If anyone showed that much support for me, I think I'd cry. <3.

If given the chance I’ll use deaf cheers over clapping any day. Some things from the deaf community are just better

That’s like my mother! She was deaf at birth, but got a cochlear implant and has hearing aids, but she usually can’t hear my school plays well — and yet she still seems the happiest :)

Honestly the "deaf dad" reaction is better. It feels like that response isn't so robotic like everyone else's

I love how expressive ASL is. Waving to cheer is probably my favorite

at theatre competitions we were always told "happy hands not clappy hands" so that the sound of clapping wouldn't disturb other performances happening in nearby rooms. this reminded me of that! 🥺

Flash back to me learning asl in college and sometimes signing instead of speaking for fun. I got excited in class and clapped in asl, a girl behind me went "oh my god shes so happy shes doing jazz hands." Lived it

My dad is a custodian at my high school a year before i got there he told me about a young lady who was deaf and when she’d achieve something he sign clapping to her this year i had the pleasure of meeting her and she teared up talking about how much the simple act meant to her it’s the little things that make the biggest impact ❤
