Inside The $79,000 Genesis GV80, A True Luxury SUV | Cars & Bikes | Forbes

The Genesis GV80 rolls into the 2025 model year with a mild facelift, new wheels, fresh colors, and a slew of interior enhancements to make this mid-size luxury crossover even more appealing. Starting with the exterior, the automaker has meticulously re-sculpted the front fascia and fine-tuned the Genesis signature diamond-crest front grille. The G-Matrix façade now boasts the company's latest MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology for headlight illumination—smaller, lighter, and more efficient than last year's offering. The emblem has been carefully tweaked with more texture, adding to the vehicle's overall aesthetic appeal. A closer look reveals more oversized front air intakes and the lower skid plate has been cosmetically enhanced with a silver-tone.

Opening the doors reveals the more significant year-over-year improvements—and a passenger cabin more opulent than that found in a Gulfstream private jet. An expansive 27-inch OLED screen is now used to display the instrument cluster and infotainment screen—everything is controlled by a new rotary controller conveniently mounted on the center console. The two-spoke steering wheel has grown an extra spoke—the objective was to optimize ergonomics, says the automaker. Genesis designers have also reworked some of the minute details to bring the cabin even more upmarket.

Under the tested 2025 Genesis GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD hood is a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 rated at 375 horsepower. Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, it propels the 4,100-lb crossover from a standstill to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds.

The German brands are making horrible cars right now. Meanwhile brands like Genesis are KILLING it. Beautiful car.

The resale value on this car is way better than those German brands so I'm definitely in all the way!!

There's are some factual inaccuracies in this video. First of all, Genesis started out as RWD sedan under Hyundai. It wasn't a top trim of their vehicles at the time. Secondly, this is a 2025 model, not a 24. Third, both endings aren't turbo 6 engines. The base engine is a 2.5L inline 4 turbo, & the upgraded engine is a 3.5L twin-turbo V6

WHY is she referring to this as a 2024? Thai is a 2025!!

Bentley cut corners sort of cut corners Bentayga by using the MLB platform, and it shows with how close the front wheels are to the body. Meanwhile, Hyundai's Genesis division made sure their vehicles, not just the GV80, would have short front overhang and great dash-to-axle ratio by using a dedicated rear-wheel drive first platform. Incredible effort from Genesis.

The issue is still the small dealer network and customer service experience.

I had a 2022 Hyundai. My local Hyundai dealer was also a Genesis dealer. That Hyundai was nothing but problems. The dealership and corporate were all equally terrible. Doesn’t matter if you have a check engine light on — see you in 45 days. I traded it in last month for a Lexus. I’d never consider a Genesis.

Genesis is more of a quality brand, than Mercedes-Benz and BMW, Audi!. At least in terms of reliability and durability. 😎

Nobody is paying 80K for a Hyundai. Rodney King got beat up for being grown driving in a Hyundai.
