Episode 3 • Finishing Rear Suspension

In this video, Scott finishes the rear suspension on his 88 Silverado 3500 project he named, "Rodeo". This truck is getting a full suspension drop and will also be getting some custom metalwork in the bed. This is going to be a cool project, so make sure to subscribe and turn on those notifications.

Damn, great work. Thanks for the great info and taking time to teach and explain everything. The basketball analogy is gold.

Love the truck. Can't wait to see the finished product. I've got a 91 lowered crewcab dually. Currently a static 5 - 7 drop

A tip i learned from a fellow builder is if you have a small bellow bag and that crappy knock your teeth out ride, you can add small air tanks to those particular bags for more air "volume" causing more air compression. Yes its more air tanks to plumb but its an option. Its basically acting as an accumulator like in a hydraulic system

I gotta find out where he’s from! He pronounces a lot of words like we do in Pennsylvania. Lol, love the pride you guys put into your work! Thanks for the content!

That's *actually* very helpful; I plan on helping a buddy of mine do that to his truck in a couple of weeks.

Love the build! I recommend the 8.1 swap. I have the same truck that I swapped an 8.1 into. It will be the easiest swap you have ever done. The 454 motor mounts bolt to the 8.1 and it bolts in. You can reuse the exhaust manifolds or headers also. The transmission should work also, I reused the 4spd in mine. The only thing you will need is the accessory drive from a motorhome or a van. That converts it to a single belt and moves the A/C compressor to the top. If you decide to do it I can answer any questions you have.

Scott the air bags that you took off they used to have that style of air bags bags on White Freightliner trucks back in 1973 and i know that they had them in 1978 because my dad had a 1978 White Freightliner that had that style of air bags.

FISH PLATE…meaning comes from the early 1800’s. Fish was only served on fine dishes, that were mot perfectly round. President Lincoln wanted gussets put on his train car shaped in a fish plate, hence the term fish plate. FYI I just made that up…but it sounds good! 😂

I see a weak point, the bag lower support bracket, that small curved strap won’t hold the weight and force, so better make them the same as the upper ones (half circular ) for better geometry and load support

Curious what brand flap disk you use? Everything I've been trying wears out so fast.
